+20,000 Fireworks

Oyama held its annual summer fireworks festival this year on August 1, 2011.  There were over 20,000 fireworks in the shapes of hearts, smiley faces, swirls, Mickey Mouse, Doraemon, and of course the traditional fanfare during the hour and a half show.

We sat so close that most of the fireworks exploded out of my Flip Video’s range.  A good portion erupted almost over our heads.  I’ve never seen anything like it.  In New York, fireworks are about 20 minutes and take place in the harbor somewhere.

Go to the YouTube playlist (click “Play All”) to watch these in larger, HD quality.  Be sure to click “360p” in the right bottom corner and select “720pHD.”

Wish I could have seen them. I’m sure they were fantastic.
Did you see me last week, cycling past , in front of Tsutaya/Starbucks?
The big fat foreigner with the red t-shirt and British flag on it? Nearly unmissable. : )
I think that was you…retro 80’s glasses? ha ha.
I had a good vacation. Thanks for your info.
